About Bhagat : Bhagat Gorakumbhar Aakhyaan is a Gujarati Devotional story about his life. The sant was the devotee of Bhagwan Shree Vitthal. He was born in c.1267 and he started on his iternal journey in c.1317. He was hindu and was born in the village called Satyapuri of Osmanbad district of Maharashtra. At present the village is known as Goraba Ter. After his name, a small temple has been named and many devotees visit the temple. By profession, the bhagat was a potter.
The bhagat had one wife named Ganga and on child Nandlal. Gora was kicked out of his wife by his sister-in-law. His son Nandlal was stomped accidently under his feet and his son Nandlal dies. As the Nandlal was their only son, Gora want someone as his heir. But he refuses to be intimate with his wife. Somehow he agrees to marry his wife Ganga’s sister Jamuna to have an heir to his family.
Instead of getting married to Jamuna and have a heir, he chopped off his own hands and takes the vow not to be intimate with anyone in his life ever. He was the true devotee of Bhagwan Shree Vitthal and sang many bhajans of the god with his fellows. Bhagat is well-known and famous for his devotion to God.
